Seeking Help Through Patience and Prayer

Whenever I read the Qur'an, the sound of the Call from my Lord would penetrate my heart, with His saying: "O you who truly believe!"
-Shaykh Ahmad Fathu'llah Jami

Have you ever read or listened to the Qur’an and asked yourself what Allah is really saying to the believers? Have you ever wondered why some verses begin with a call to the believers and what the significance of this is? In this series of short commentaries on the verses in the Qur'an starting with "O you who believe", Shaykh Arsalan Haque discusses the importance and application of these verses, beginning with this reflection on the following verse from Surah Baqarah:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
O you who believe! Seek help through patience and the prayer. Indeed, Allah (is) with the patient ones. (Surah Baqarah 2:157)
