José Acevedo
Jose M Acevedo believes that all youth want to be and can be successful. In that light, he has dedicated his professional career in the fields of youth development and education.
Jose is the founder of OpenMinds Services, your solution for youth development, parenting, education, and homeschool services. Additionally, Jose is finalizing the creation of a relevant and empowering Islamic Studies curriculum for middle and high school youth that can be used in full-time or weekend Islamic schools called, Islam in Practice. Along with his extended family, Jose is also establishing Querencia Farms for halal and tayyab meats, for educational and outreach programming, and for connecting to Allah's creation. Finally, Jose is creating an online hub that showcases the various contributions that Muslims are making around the country in the areas of service, advocacy, and outreach, called Relevant Muslims.
Previously, Jose developed Andalus Institute, a high school, homeschool program for gifted and talented youth and NOMAD CAMPS, an outdoor education, youth development program.
While pursing his studies at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, he accepted Islam. By Allah’s Grace, he received his Masters Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) and a dual-bachelors in History and Sociology. Jose is happily married and is the father of 3 boys and 1 baby girl and resides in the metro Baltimore area.
