Salam Neighbor: Highlighting The Global Refugee Crisis

To have one's world turned upside down and ravaged by war; to witness schools, homes, and hospitals bombed indiscriminately is a fate that no one should have to experience. To be uprooted and to have to move to a refugee camp in a foreign land, to have to endure subhuman conditions, is an uncomfortable truth that must be addressed by those of conscience.

Tragically, there are over 9 million Syrian refugees displaced since the beginning of the civil war in Syria. These refugees are people who had normal, productive lives before, but who are now suffering in ways most can will never experience, and therefore cannot fully relate to.

The team who put together the documentary "Living On One" collaborated with the UNHCR, The International Relief Committee (IRC), and the Kingdom of Jordan to put together a documentary about the living conditions in Zataari, a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan, for the first time. "Salam Neighbor" is a documentary showing life in and around Zataari, a refugee camp in Jordan housing over 95,000 people.

"Salam Neighbor" is an eye opening film that explores the lives of Syrian refugees, their hopes, fears, and experiences. It humanizes the issue of the Syrian refugee reality, which is a mainstay of news headlines everywhere. It has been supported by international leaders such as David Milliband and Queen Rania of Jordan, and has been widely screened by film viewers worldwide. It is currently available on ITunes, and viewers are encouraged to learn more at http://livingonone.org/salamneighbor.
